The EU Increases Anti‑Dumping Duties on Chinese Ceramic Tableware & Kitchenware
Customs Support Sweden would like to inform you of an important development concerning imports of ceramic tableware and kitchenware originating in China.
The European Commission has adopted a new implementing regulation introducing updated anti‑dumping duties for these products. This decision follows a partial interim review in which the Commission examined the presence of dumping during the period 1 July 2023 – 30 June 2024. The review was initiated after a request from the European industry, which reported that dumping was still occurring.
Outcome of the Review
The Commission concluded that market conditions in China remain distorted, due in part to state influence on production, pricing, raw materials, labour, and financing. As a result, the EU established normal values using comparable cost data from a representative third country — Turkiye.
New Definitive Anti‑Dumping Duties
The following duties have now been confirmed:
- Definitive anti-dumping duty: 79.0%
- A countrywide duty rate of 79% applies to imports from China where no individual duty rate has been set.
Practical Impact
This new level represents a significant increase compared with previously applicable individual rates, which generally ranged between 13% and 36%.
For importers, this means:
- A substantially increased cost level
- A need to ensure correct customs handling
- A potential review of supplier structures, sourcing strategies, and pricing
The product scope remains unchanged. It continues to cover ceramic tableware and kitchenware classified under the relevant CN codes, with exclusions such as ceramic mills, knife sharpeners, and certain kitchen tools.
Affected CN Codes
- 6911100090
- 6912002111
- 6912002191
- 6912002310
- 6912002510
- 6912002910
Entry into Force
The regulation enters into force on 7 February 2026.
