Customs Support Group Opens European TechHub in Warsaw

Warsaw / Rotterdam, July 10, 2025 – Customs Support Group (CSG), Europe’s leading provider of customs clearance and trade solutions, has officially opened its European TechHub in Warsaw. The innovation centre is set to centralize digitalisation efforts of Group’s European customs operations and drive the digital transformation of the traditionally paper-heavy customs industry, reinforcing CSG’s leadership in CustomsTech.

Ian Featherstone, Chief Digital Officer at CSG, officially opens the TechHub with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

· CustomsTech development and support centre for 14 European markets

· From concept to go-live in just six months

· Digital customs and development teams to grow to 100+ experts by 2026

· Supporting 24/7 customs operations across Europe and beyond

· Transforming paper-heavy customs handling into a smooth and data-driven link of the logistics industry

As an operational enabler, Customs TechHub will act as the digital innovation centre for CSG’s European business, currently spanning 14 markets. The hub will focus on the development, deployment and operational support of advanced automation and digitalization solutions tailored to the customs and logistics industry. As the trade landscape becomes increasingly complex, the goal is to modernize customs clearance processes and further enhance service delivery by leveraging automation and AI-driven technologies.

“The increasing complexity of international trade, geo-political disruptions and ever-changing legal requirements make it necessary to redefine customs processes,” says John Wegman, CEO of Customs Support Group.

“Our TechHub in Warsaw is a crucial next step in this effort: Here we bundle human customs expertise with CustomsTech, and create data-driven, AI-supported solutions that enable efficient, compliant and highly automated customs processing – for our customers throughout Europe.”

End-to-End Automation Backed by Real Intelligence

The new TechHub is focused on enabling smart, end-to-end automation, eliminating manual preparation of customs declarations – covering everything from documentation processing to data entry. This applies even to unstructured documents and fragmented data sets, significantly boosting efficiency, improving data accuracy, and reducing the risk of human error. As a result, customs related documentation, regardless of customer data starting point or volume, will be initially processed in a fully digital manner and subsequently validated by a customs declarant. This milestone underscores CSG’s commitment to redefining customs operations through intelligent scalable solutions.

Importantly, automation and AI support only the preparation phase. Declarants remain central in shaping the final declaration: validating data, applying their expertise, and submitting it to the authorities. While AI advancements drive efficiency, human expertise – Real Intelligence – remains at the core of CSG services to prevent costly non-compliance errors.

In addition, TechHub experts are developing secure EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) interfaces to seamlessly connect with customers’ IT environments, enabling smooth and reliable data exchange.

Besides technical development, there is a special focus on Customs Control Tower solution to support pan European customs handling. With this offering, CSG primarily addresses large, internationally active customers who can now manage their customs operations for multiple European markets through a single point of contact. To this end, CSG is gradually establishing 24/7 support at the TechHub to better meet the requirements of international supply chains. With a centralized customs management approach, customers can also benefit from cross-border data consolidation, visibility and real-time reporting.

Innovation Location with Excellent Connectivity

The new customs TechHub is located in the Koneser Centre in Warsaw – one of the most popular innovation locations in the Polish capital, hosting tech start-ups and innovation campuses for renowned companies, including Google.

“Poland is one of Europe’s strongest growing economies and a significant logistics and technology hub,” explains Ian Featherstone Chief Digital Officer at CSG, who has been leading the creation of the TechHub from inception since January.

“Furthermore, this market offers excellent access to digital and technology talents and combines these advantages with an attractive cost structure – an ideal location for our TechHub.”

CSG Seeks Tech and Customs Experts

To date, CSG has hired over 30 new employees on site. By the end of 2025, the team is expected to grow to 100 people; a doubling is planned for 2026 – with further growth targeted long-term.

CSG is recruiting IT and automation engineers, customs declarants with multilingual skills, financial experts for centralized processes, and intelligent documentation processing specialists. English is the primary working language at the TechHub; additional European language skills are an advantage.

“We don’t just want to grow fast; we want to build a strong, innovation-driven team culture,” emphasizes Alicia Piecko, Head of the TechHub. “We rely on modern, hybrid working models, an open feedback culture, with comprehensive development programs.”

New Capacities for the Digital Future of Customs

The TechHub supports Group’s operations across Europe and creates additional capacity for CSG’s rapidly growing business, offering seamless cross-border operations, standardized onboarding of new clients, and upgrading digitalization with the current ones. Existing national organizations remain fully intact and are supported in their work by this innovation centre.

“The opening of our TechHub in Warsaw is much more than just an expansion of our presence – it marks a strong commitment to our vision of delivering best-in-class digitalized customs clearance service,” summarizes John Wegman. “In an industry, traditionally characterized by paper and manual processes, we are setting new standards for efficiency and precision with our CustomsTech solutions. By centralizing our technological expertise within this innovation centre, we are not only creating a competitive advantage for both our company and our customers, but also actively shaping the future of the declarant profession and the customs industry as a whole.”
