Without proper customs clearance, customers will not be able to dispose of their goods on time.

For our Ghent office we are looking for a declarant to strengthen our teams.

Your existing experience as a customs declarant will be put into practice quickly and you will also be responsible for managing a team to achieve the desired results together. As Customs Support we offer services in the field of customs, but also in the field of excise duties. So you can also fall back on sufficient knowledge in the field of excise operations.

In this position you have the following tasks:

Handling customs formalities:

  • Processing customs declarations in accordance with legislation and regulations.
  • Processing all customs declarations for (cross-border) transport in accordance with statutory regulations and, if necessary, collecting additional customs technical and fiscal information for this purpose.
  • Drawing up dossier instructions for the handling of import/export transactions and related documents and collaborates with other operational departments for this purpose.
  • Identify irregularities in the customs area and report these to the manager.
  • Offering customs documents to Customs for inspection.
  • Maintaining contact with Customs on requests relating to obtaining special tariff import duties and other tax-related matters.
  • Drawing up petitions after consultation with the manager and submitting them to Customs with motivation (e.g. with regard to refunds, exemptions and errors).


Administrative work:

  • Keeping records of customs formalities in a computerised system. Experience with Stream software is a plus!


Informing customers and internal stakeholders:

  • Answering questions from customers and advising them on operational customs matters.
  • Giving instructions to internal stakeholders on topics related to changes in customs and tax legislation.
  • Acting as an internal (and possibly external) point of contact for customs formalities.



Being able to work independently, preferably with knowledge of Stream software. Smooth and communicative.

  • Compiling a file on the activity (transit, customs, ...)
  • Informing and advising clients on the formalities for international trade in goods (legal provisions, taxes, guarantees, etc.).
  • Drawing up and checking documents for the international movement of goods (customs invoice, unique administrative declaration, letter of credit, etc.).
  • Preparing, monitoring or checking the invoicing of transit or customs activities (payment of suppliers, customs duties, declaration of exchanges of goods, etc.).
  • Coding goods on the basis of the description provided by the customer
  • Fulfil the administrative formalities for a transport service (transport document), air waybill (air transport), BL (sea transport), CMR (road transport), CIM (rail transport, ...).
  • Handling specific files or transmitting them to the service in question (disputes, etc.)
