Founded in 2005, TullXperten, translates to Customs Experts, recently became a part of Customs Support, and their headquarters in Gothenburg cater to both the Norwegian and Swedish markets

Digitalisation and IT at the heart of operations

From the beginning, TullXperten’s founders David Ekström, Annika Larsson, and Annette Haugsnes, focused on innovation and digitalisation. David Ekström, one of the founders, grew up in a customs environment, as both his parents worked in customs. He used his creative mind and positive attitude to design innovative solutions for his clients. In doing so, he created a digital customs brokerage company.

Working closely with clients

TullXperten’s highly personal approach created strong relationships with its clients, many of which have been with the company for many years. TullXperten grew as they grew. When one of their biggest clients moved into Norway in 2014, TullXperten followed.

From a few to 100,000

The company grew from handling a few customs declarations daily to handling more than 100,000 declarations per year. TullXperten’s digital solutions have been enabling their declarants to handle a much higher number of declarations than most of their competitors without compromising on quality.

One family joining a larger one

When you walk into the TullXperten office, you first notice the relaxed vibe, which is quite an accomplishment if you know how hectic customs operations can get. The staff get along exceptionally well, which has been a focus of David, Annika, and Annette from the start. If you ask any of the TullXperten team about what working there is like, they will all mention the social events with colleagues.

Saving Saab

TullXperten has gone the extra mile for many customers, but there is one example we would like to highlight here: how TullXperten helped save the production of Saab Automobile in 2009. Saab automobile lost its credit (a service agreement with Swedish Customs) when the company was forced to begin debt restructuring. Losing the credit agreement with Swedish Customs resulted in a stoppage of all imports of parts from countries outside the European Union, which would cause production to grind to a halt. TullXperten allowed Saab to use its credit and, in doing so, help save Saab. This led to additional revenue in the following years. The positive media attention also helped land new clients and grow the company. Above all, it was great to support a Swedish icon like Saab.
